Matar Paneer Aloo (Cottage Cheese, Peas and Potatoes Curry)

Ingredients

  • 200 gm paneer, cubed
  • 1 cup peas
  • 2 cubed potatoes
  • 2 thickly chopped onions
  • 3-4 thickly chopped tomatoes
  • 1” piece ginger
  • 4 garlic cloves
  • 2-3 tbsp oil
  • 2 tsp kasoori methi
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala powder
  • Black pepper powder for garnishing
  • Chopped coriander leaves for garnishing
  • 1-2 cups water
  • Salt to taste

Method –

  1. Grind onions, tomatoes, ginger and garlic into a thick paste
  2. Heat oil in a pressure cooker
  3. Let the cumin seeds splutter
  4. Add the ground paste, kasoori methi, all the dry spices and stir fry for about 10-12 minutes till oil separates
  5. Add peas and potatoes
  6. Stir fry about 2-3 minutes
  7. Add cubed paneer, add water and pressure cook for 2-3 whistles
  8. Open the cooker and add black pepper powder and coriander leaves
