
Ingredients–
- Chow chow/chayote squash – 1 big
- Moong dal/chana dal – 1/4 cup
- Sambhar powder – 1 tsp
- Turmeric powder – 1/8 tsp
- Salt to taste
To Grind –
- Coconut, freshly grated – 1/4 cup
- Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp
- Rice flour – 1 tsp
- Dry red chilies – 2
To Temper –
- Oil – 1 tsp
- Mustard seeds – 3/4 tsp
- Urad dal – 1 tsp
- Curry leaves – 1 sprig
Method –
- Peel the chow chow, deseed and chop it into tiny squares
- In a pressure cooker, add the chopped vegetable, sambhar powder, turmeric powder and salt
- Add one cup water
- Pressure cook for 3 whistles
- Grind coconut with cumin seeds, rice flour and dry red chillies to a paste
- Add it to the cooked vegetable and mix well
- Bring to boil
- Add all the ingredients for tempering in a ladle. Once the seeds splutter, pour it into the vegetables and mix well
