
Ingredients–
- Bottle Gourd/Lau – 500 gm
- Shrimps – 150 gms, de-veined and cleaned well
- Green chilli – 2 slit
- A pinch of turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
- Sugar – 1/2 tsp
- Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp
- A handful of chopped coriander leaves
- Mustard oil – 2 tbsp
Method–
- Cut bottle gourd in juliennes
- In a wok, heat oil, fry shrimps for a minute and remove. Keep aside
- In the same oil, add cumin seeds
- When the seeds crackle, add the gourd
- Add salt and mix well
- Reduce flame to medium and cover with a lid
- Add slit green chillies and mix
- Add a pinch of turmeric powder
- Allow the gourd to cook in its own juice
- When the gourd is tender, add shrimps and mix well
- Cook till the water evaporates completely
- Add sugar
- Add coriander leaves and switch off the flame
- Serve with steamed rice
