Foxtail Millet Pongal

Ingredients

  • Foxtail millet – 1/2 cup
  • Yellow moong dal – 1/4 cup
  • Water – 1.5 cups
  • Salt to taste

For Seasoning

  • 1 tbsp ghee
  • 1 tsp black peppercorns
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 5-6 cashews
  • 1 tsp urad dal
  • 1 green chilli, chopped
  • 1 sprig curry leaves

Method –

  1. Wash and soak the millet and dal together overnight
  2. In a thick bottomed vessel, add the millet, dal, salt and water
  3. Cook covered on low heat till water is absorbed and the millet is cooked
  4. In a pan, add ghee
  5. Add all the seasoning ingredients
  6. Pour this over the millet mixture
  7. Mix well and serve
