
Ingredients–
- 250-300 gm Rohu fish, marinated with 1 tsp turmeric powder and 1/2 tsp salt for 10 minutes
- 2-3 tbsp mustard oil
- 1/2 tsp fenugreek seeds
- 3-4 tomatoes
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp red chilli powder (optional)
- Salt to taste
- 2 cups hot water
- 2 slit green chillies
- Chopped coriander leaves
- Juice of 1/2 lemon
Method –
- Peel the tomato skin and roughly chop them
- Grind in a chopper into a purée. Set aside
- Heat oil in a frying pan
- Fry the fish lightly and set aside
- In the same oil, add fenugreek seeds and let it crackle
- Add the tomato purée and cook for a few minutes till oil separates
- Add the turmeric powder, chilli powder, salt and sauté for a minute
- Pour the hot water and let it boil for 2-3 minutes
- Lower the heat, add the fried fish pieces and cook for 5-7 minutes
- Add green chillies, coriander leaves and give a quick stir
- Turn off the heat and squeeze the lemon juice
- Serve with piping hot steamed rice
