Kala Chana Chaat (Black Chickpea Salad)


  • 1 cup black chickpeas, washed and soaked overnight
  • 1/3 cup chopped tomato, seeds removed
  • 1/3 cup chopped onion
  • 1-2 chopped green chillies
  • 1-2 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
  • 1-2 tbsp chopped mint leaves
  • 1 tsp chaat masala
  • 1/4 tsp kala namak (rock salt)
  • 1/4 tsp amchur (mango powder)
  • 1/4 tsp red chilli powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Lemon juice as per taste

Method –

  1. Boil the chickpeas with 2 cups of water in a pressure cooker for 8-10 whistles on high heat
  2. Drain the water and place the chana in a big bowl
  3. Add chopped tomato, onion, coriander leaves and mint leaves
  4. Add the spices – chaat masala, rock salt, amchur, red chilli powder and salt
  5. Mix well and add freshly squeezed lemon juice as per taste
