
Ingredients–
- 4 pieces fish
- Salt to taste
- 1/2 tsp + 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp cumin powder
- 2 small onions, grated
- 3 green chillies
- 1/2” piece of ginger
- 5-6 cloves of garlic
- 1 medium tomato
- A big handful of coriander leaves
- 1/4 cup mint leaves
- 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
- 3 tbsp mustard oil
Method –
- Rub a little salt and 1/2 tsp turmeric powder on the fish pieces
- Set aside for 15 minutes
- Grind the tomato, ginger and garlic into a smooth paste
- Grind the coriander leaves, mint leaves and green chillies into a smooth paste
- Heat mustard oil in a wok
- Fry the fish and set aside
- In the same oil, add cumin seeds
- Once it crackles, add the grated onion and sauté till lI brown
- Add the tomato paste and fry
- Add 1/2 tsp cumin powder and fry till oil leaves the sides
- Add 1 cup of water
- When the gravy boils, add the fried fish and cook covered on low medium heat for 5 minutes
- Add the green paste and cook covered for another 5 minutes
- Serve hot with steamed rice
