Homestyle Fried Rice

Ingredients

  • 1 cup leftover steamed rice
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 medium onion, sliced thinly
  • 1 sprig of curry leaves
  • 1 green chilli, chopped finely
  • 1 small tomato, chopped
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tsp oil

Method –

  1. Heat oil in a pan
  2. Add mustard seeds
  3. When the seeds splutter, add onion and curry leaves
  4. Let the onion turn light brown
  5. Add the tomatoes and add 1/4 cup of water
  6. Cook till the tomatoes become mushy and add turmeric powder and salt
  7. Now add the rice and mix well.
  8. Cover with a lid and allow the water to dry up
  9. Serve with yogurt and pickle
